However, what about anyone who may be looking for a nostalgic white Christmas. Don’t worry, you can still have Christmas without the snow. After all those moving expenses, you will be happy to know there are plenty of things to do in Orlando around Christmas time for free – here’s our ‘must-do’ list for your first Christmas in Orlando.
Visit the formal Leu Gardens on the shores of Lake Rowena. You can walk through 50 acres of lovely grounds, and then visit the 1898 farmhouse, which is decked out for the holidays. This building is on the National Register of Historic Places, and is beautiful at Christmas. Touring the house and grounds takes about an hour and a half. Admission is free on the first Monday of the month. Visit Fort Christmas Historical Park, located in Christmas, Florida just 20 miles east of Orlando. This is a full sized replica of Fort Christmas, having been founded on Christmas Day in 1837 by a force of 2,000 U.S. Army soldiers during the Second Seminole Indian War. See seven restored historical homes and experience pioneer life from the 1870’s through the 1930’s. Children can play on the fort-like playground, swings, slides, and in an area for small children. There is also a basketball court, tennis court, and a small baseball field. Shop for Christmas presents at FleaWorld and FunWorld just north of Orlando. FleaWorld is the largest flea market in the United States with over 1,700 vendors selling everything you can imagine such as pet supplies, shoes, perfumes, plants, watches, DVDs, and cell phones. FunWorld is for the kids with go-carts, bumper cars, and a carousel.Once your Orlando moving company is finished moving you in, you’ll be ready to start celebrating the holidays in your new city.
