There is no shortage of things to do in May, especially when it starts getting warmer outside. As things heat up, the number of events increase. Festivals

Many of the festivals in the area are free but even the ones that do charge are not very expensive.

If you like BBQ, you should attend Celebrate CB between May 8 – 16, 2015. It takes place in the Bluffs at River's Edge Park.

Another popular event is Florence Days – May 9 – 10, 2015. This festival features a parade and other events.

The Salute to Summer Festival in La Vista takes place May 21-24, 2015. It features fireworks, a free concert, and a free pool party.

Towards the end of may, you will find Valley Days. This festival runs May 29 – 30, 2015.

The biggest festival this May is probably Loessfest in Council Bluffs taking place May 23-31, 2015. This is an entire week of free events. One of them is a Chicago concert. This is one you do not want to miss!

Art and Culture

If festivals are not your thing, there are many activities you can enjoy in the arts and culture category. In Omaha, there are several galleries and interactive art houses. On top of that, you can go to The Holland Performing Arts Center for a local show. You can attend the Omaha Symphony for some beautiful music. You can even attend the historic Orpheum Theater. The largest community theater in the country, the Omaha Community Playhouse, is also located in Omaha. In May they are featuring I Hate Hamlet and Monty Python's Spamalot.

Local Attractions

In addition to the festivals and local art and culture events going on, there are many things that you can visit all year long. These local attractions are good for a hot summer day or for a family event. One of these is the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. There are even museums to visit such as The Durham Museum. Get out into the city and explore everything it has to offer. There are so many things happening every day.
